About Dr. Clabby
John F. Clabby, PhD is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health; and Psychiatry at the CentraState Family Medicine Residency and Geriatric Fellowship Program, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He also holds a joint appointment with the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied Professional Psychology.
Dr. Clabby is a psychologist who specializes in translating psychological approaches into step-by-step directions to make them accessible and useful for physical healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, and others.
He has co-authored three books, authored many articles, and given numerous lectures on practical strategies to promote mental health. Over the years, periodicals such as US News and World Report, the New York Times, and the Journal of the American Medical Association have written about his work. Dr. Clabby’s work in the area of mental health prevention has won him national awards including the National Mental Health Association’s Lela Rowland Prevention Award, the American Psychological Association’s National Psychological Consultants to Management Award, and the National Psychology Award for Excellence in the Media, Book Category (Honorable Mention).
Dr. Clabby has twice been nominated for the Outstanding Seminar Award at the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine NE Annual Conference. He maintains a private clinical practice in the Monmouth County, New Jersey Shore area where he grew up, and where he lives with his wife.
