Hospitalized, tough, 40 year old. Alcohol, drug problems. Agitated learning he had cancer. Taught him and his 3 biker buddies imagery to self-calm. His imagery choice?  “I’m five. Sitting in front of Mom. She’s rubbing my head. Thanks for helping me go there again.” I’ll work on my biases and always offer such “soft” interventions.
